"Teachers & Writers Collaborative (T&W) announces the second T&W Fellowships, which will be awarded for 2008-2009 to two early-career writers." Fellowship period runs from October 1, 2008, to May 31, 2009. Fellowship confers a $10,000 stipend; office space/resources at T&W; networking opportunities; and "exposure to all aspects of T&W's work." There is no application fee; applications must be received by 5PM (Eastern) on Monday, July 7. Details (including eligibility criteria and fellowship responsibilities) are available here.

The National Association of Baby Boomer Women and GRAND magazine have joined forces to sponsor a "Favorite Grandparent Memory Essay Contest": "You have 500 words to tell us your favorite grandparent memory. Knock yourself out. Take us back. Who was there, what were you going, how old were you, why was the event so special?" Prize includes $250 and free membership or renewal in the NABBW, plus publication. There is no entry fee indicated.
