Sad News About Raymond Smith

I read this sad news on The Elegant Variation earlier today about the passing of Raymond Smith. I've been feeling unsettled about this all day, in part because Raymond Smith's widow is Joyce Carol Oates, whom I saw (and heard) in person for the first time (albeit across a hotel ballroom--she was onstage) at the AWP Conference barely three weeks ago. And in part because I've submitted work several times to the journal Smith and Oates founded, Ontario Review. My condolences to Ms. Oates, and to their family and friends.
