Monday Morning Markets/Jobs/Opportunities

If you've considered writing articles/commentary for The Chronicle Review ("a magazine of ideas"), you might want to join the live discussion with its editor, Liz McMillen, which will take place Thursday, June 12 (noon, US Eastern time), online.
"Teachers & Writers Collaborative (T&W) announces the second T&W Fellowships, which will be awarded for 2008-2009 to two early-career writers." Fellowship period runs from October 1, 2008, to May 31, 2009. Fellowship confers a $10,000 stipend; office space/resources at T&W; networking opportunities; and "exposure to all aspects of T&W's work." There is no application fee; applications must be received by 5PM (Eastern) on Monday, July 7. Details (including eligibility criteria and fellowship responsibilities) are available here.
The National Association of Baby Boomer Women and GRAND magazine have joined forces to sponsor a "Favorite Grandparent Memory Essay Contest": "You have 500 words to tell us your favorite grandparent memory. Knock yourself out. Take us back. Who was there, what were you going, how old were you, why was the event so special?" Prize includes $250 and free membership or renewal in the NABBW, plus publication. There is no entry fee indicated. (If a man wins, "he can keep the $250 and give the free membership to to a boomer woman.") Submit via e-mail per the instructions here.
The editor of Social Issues in America: An Encyclopedia is looking for authors for essays on 1) Consumer Product Safety and 2) Veterans Care and Benefits. Turnaround time is tight, and the pay is relatively low ($400/3,000-word essay). See the announcement here.
