You may not have known that Midwest Living magazine publishes essays: "If you remember a special event or experience - from the past or only yesterday - that's particularly related to living in the Heartland, we'd like to hear about it. Tell us your story about a happening that typifies life in the Midwest. If we publish your essay (750 words or less, please), you get $250." Click here for submission instructions.

And another opportunity for essayists: Galavanting Online Women's Travel Magazine is a new publication that pays $50 for feature travel essays (on publication) and $15 for "feature travel tips and blog entries." You'll find general submission guidelines here, and the current call here. (via Paying Writer Jobs)
